Helmet sensor data collection module
Special Features
Helmet sensor data collection module is a small, lightweigh, low-power sensor suite that mounts to the light weight helmet (lwh); helmet sensor will detect, measure and record impact (acceleration in three degrees of freedom) and blast overpressure associated with concussive events/ied blasts that marines may experience in operational enviroments; data is downloaded via a mini usb port to any computer; sensor retrieval kit includes a software installation cd formatted for a windows operating system, and a mini usb cable to assist in reading the data
General Description
Module mounts on outsiderear of lwh; it weighs approximately 6 ounces and is designed to fit underneath cover of helmet; module has an expected six to eight month operational life; the dynamic acceleration capture range is 1g to greater than, or equal to 4000g; module records peak overpressure (up to 240 pounds per square inch absolute) to discriminate from non-significant impact events (dropped/thrown helmet); the memory allows up to 527 events to be recorded
