Self-contained, man portable, refined variant satellite receiver desinged to receive signals transmitted by satellites of the user segment withing the dod global positioning system. It recieves a space-based radio signal which is converted to geodetic quality data (+/- 5 mm acccuracy) for determining three dimensional (longitutde, latitude, altitude) position location on the surface of the earth. This capability will enable artillery survey sections to rapidly establish survey control points (in all weather conditions) for the purpose of facilitating the extension of a common grid within the marine expeditionary force field of operation as well as provide precise geographical location of firing units, observers and targets
