Special Features
The teeth shall be fabricated of stainless steel or of other metal treated for resistance to corrosion. The back and handle of the comb may be fabricated of metal or organic material. Any metal used shall be treated to resist corrosion. Any organic material used shall be non-absorbent and washable in hot, soapy water. The materials shall not be biodegradable and shall not be damaged by storage at high and low temperatures. The color is optional.
General Description
The comb shall be designed and fabricated for loosening and removal of matted or dead hairs from a dog's undercoat. The comb shall have a handle extending from, and perpendicular to, the back (base) of the comb. The teeth of the comb shall be round in cross-section, and the tips of the teeth shall be rounded to minimize irritation of the dog's skin. The teeth shall extend straight out from the back of the comb, perpendicular to the length of the handle, and shall be evenly spaced. The comb shall have 6 to 8 teeth per inch. The toothed section of the comb shall be at least 3 inches in length, and the handle shall be at least 4 inches long. The teeth shall be of equal length and shall extend from the back of the comb for a distance of 0.75 to 1.0 inch.
