Special Features
The leash shall consist of a strap with a loop handle at one end and an attachment point at the other end; the strap shall be one continuous (splice free) length of material. Eather single ply or double ply construction is acceptable; one end of the leash shall be formed into a loop handle the interior circumference of the loop shall be at least 16 inches; attachment point, a b0lt-style snap hook with a swivel end shall be fitted to the end of the leash opposite the handle.
General Description
Functional description, the leash shall be designed and constructed to be fastened to the dog collar or harness and used by the handler to lead the dog or hold it in check; performance, the leash shall be capable of withstanding the dynamic load imparted by stopping a moving mass having kenetic energy of at least 120 foot-pounds transmitted through the snap hook to the handle without failure or damage including; fracture of the snap hook, permanent deformation of snap hook leaving a gap of more than 0.05 inch at the end of the bolt; tearing or other damage to the strap material, and failure of or damage to joints (e.G. Broken stitches or separation of other bonds).
