Uniform Freight Classification (UFC) Item Number

A five position numeric code, which divides articles into groups or classes according to physical characteristics. The classification is based on carload vs. Less than carload.

Unit Container Code

A two position alphanumeric code that identifies the container used to hold the quantity unit pack. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix j, table j.vii.

Unit Container Level Code

A one position alpha code that indicates if the unit container is an acceptable shipping container and the highest level of packing protection provided by the container. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix j, table j.viii.

Unit Of Issue (UI)

A two position alpha code that indicates the physical measurement, the count, or when neither is applicable, the container or shape of an item, for purposes of requisitioning by, and issue to the end user, for the related national stock number (NSN). In accordance with DA PAM 708-2, table 3-44; afman 23-110, volume 1, part 4, chapter 1, attachment 1A-6; and DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 53.

Unit Pack Cube

A seven position alphanumeric code that indicates the maximum cube of the unit pack, with the last three positions denoting thousandths of a cubic foot. For items in excess of 9,999.999 cubic feet, the first position will display a letter X and the remaining positions will display the whole cubic feet. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix e, table e.ii.

Unit Pack Size

A twelve position numeric code that indicates the maximum outside length, width, and depth of the unit pack. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix e, table e.ii.

Unit Pack Weight

A five position alphanumeric code that indicates the maximum gross weight of the unit pack. For items in excess of 9,999.9 pounds, the first position will display one of the following: letter a for the whole pounds to be multiplied by ten; letter B for the whole pounds to be multiplied by one hundred; or letter C for the whole pounds to be multiplied by one thousand. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix e, table e.ii.

Unit Price

A twelve position numeric amount, which is the standard price of the unit of issue as established by the managing activity. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 97.

Unpackaged Item Dimensions

A twelve position numeric field that indicates the length, width, and depth of the number of unpackaged items to be contained in the unit pack. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix e, table e.i.

Using Service Code

A one position alpha code used to differentiate the catalog management data between services, integrated material manager, lead service, and civil agencies. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 39.
