National Item Identification Number (NIIN) Status Code
A one position alphanumeric code which indicates the present status. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 18.
National Item Identification Number (NIIN)
A nine position numeric number assigned to each approved item identification. The first two positions are the national codification bureau (NCB) code, followed by a seven position non-significant number.
National Motor Freight Class Rating Code (formerly - Less Than Truck Load Rating Code)
A one position alpha code denoting the class rating applicable to the item of supply under the national motor freight classification (NMFC) system. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 86.
National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) Item Number
A six position numeric code, which divides articles into groups or classes according to physical characteristics. The classification is based on truckloads vs. Less than truckload.
National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) Sub-item Number
A one position alpha code that indicates the corresponding sub of an NMFC item number. Code X indicates there is no sub number. Code Z indicates the proper sub number cannot be determined. Codes I and O will not be used.
National Motor Freight Description
A thirty-five position clear text field that is a brief standardized description assigned to a recorded item under which individual items are grouped for the purpose of assessing class and commodity rates.
