Management Control Codes
A seven position alphanumeric group of management codes used and configured by the individual military services to designate controls which are essential to the successful operation of a particular system. All positions may not be used and each element remains in its pre-selected position. Blank space S are filled with dashes. Material Category Structure Code (MATCAT)
A five alphanumeric code that prescribes the material category structure detail for management of ARMY inventories. Positions: 1-material category and inventory manager, 2-appropriation and budget activity account code, 3-management inventory segment, 4-5-specific group/generic category code. In accordance with DA PAM 708-2, tables 3-24, 3-25, 3-26, 3-27, 3-28, and DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 65.
Material Identification Code
A one position alpha code employed by the marine corps to identify the method of accounting, degree, and type of control to be maintained for the item under the supported activities supply system and to identify material by specific purpose, type, or classification for the war reserve sub-system. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 73.
Method Of Preservation Code
A two position alphanumeric code that defines the preventive measures to protect from deterioration resulting from exposure to atmospheric conditions during storage and shipment. In accordance with DOD 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and MIL-STD-2073-1E, appendix a, table a.iv and appendix j, tables j.i and j.ia.
